Which is one of the reasons I think my "I'll keep you added on both sites, but only read you in one place or the other" idea is going to backfire on me. I'll read people here, and comment here, and ultimately wind up checking out the crosspost and finding 5x the discussion there.
this is one reason I actually don't post here very often, despite having imported my old entries and everything - all the people who comment are reading me at LJ. Annoying! I try to comment at DW when people crosspost, but sometimes I wish to use an appropriate icon that's only at LJ...
oh, I'm assuming you know this, but you can change the crossposting settings to actually block commenting on LJ if you want to keep all discussion here. All LJ users can comment here with open ID anyway...
It's tricky. I mostly read here first (though I was reading LJ only at lunchtime at the office), and comment here to posts, but if there are comments at LJ that I want to respond to, my responses to those comments will also go on LJ.
Some people - have turned off LJ commenting and are getting comments on DW. Some people get more comments on DW, most people I know - myself included - get more on LJ.
I try and comment on DW because of faster load times, but quite often it depends on where I read first.
What helps is a crossposted footer that says 'crossposted from DW with xx comments;' - if people can click directly on the link they don't have to hunt for the DW post; and I tend to do that and comment on DW even if I read it on LJ first.
My default is still LJ and I try to read most of my LJ friends every day. I look in on DW every few days to catch the people who only post here. Re commenting, I tend to comment where most comments already are, but if I'm the first to comment, assuming it's cross-posted, I'm more likely to see it first on LJ and thus comment there.
